Y4C Civic Leadership Club at San Diego High School

The Y4C Civic Leadership Club is an interdisciplinary program to empower students to address critical climate, social, and environmental justice challenges by equipping them with the skills, networks, and self-confidence to become civic leaders. This unique leadership program focuses on team-building, climate science, civic engagement training, and professional development.

Students will learn about real-world issues and complete projects that advance solutions and tangible community impacts. The program meets three times weekly for six 3-week sections, featuring diverse climate justice topics and skill building goals. Participants may register for one or all sections, with certificates of achievement for students who complete 3+ sections.

A concurrent internship program will provide job experience to two high school interns, who receive additional training and hands-on facilitation and coordination experience. Students interested in becoming interns should register for the Leadership Training Program from February 7th-February 25th.

The program targets students at San Diego High School with limited access to adult mentors and who are interested in pathways to public service and community leadership.
