Why Youth4Climate Summer Camp?

Summer 2020. The world is on fire, and youth are on the frontlines of demanding change.   In this pivotal moment in history, join peers in discovering your voice and your power – and take climate justice actions that make a difference. 

Connect with a community of passionate, like-minded students for a summer experience of active engagement and fun!

Program Details

There are two different Y4C sessions. Each lasts 4 weeks, and requires about 5 hours per week. Join one or both.

Weekly Format:

  • Live Zoom group discussion and activity sessions on Thursdays at 4 PM (PST) / 7 PM (EST)
  • “Video Watch Party” (optional): Mondays at 4 pm (PST)
  • Short training videos
  • Teamwork and solo activities: fun challenges, off-screen activities, and creative projects

When?

  • Session I: June 29 – July 24, 2020

Who is the program for?
Two separate tracks for high school and college students.

Cost and materials:
The suggested price per session is $50, or $75 for both sessions. In these times we are making these sessions available regardless of your family’s income. Accept our suggested price, or enter the amount you can afford to pay. We’d appreciate it if you can cover the costs of the materials we will send to you of $35 for one session or $50 for 2 sessions. No one will be refused due to inability to pay.

Materials provided through a “welcome packet” mailed to you (or available for pick-up in the San Diego region) the week before camp starts that includes our custom Youth4Climate D.I.Y. Handbook, “Fight Like a Climate Activist” and weekly surprise packets with material specific to each week.

  • Build alliances with other organizations to amplify your power
  • Engage in powerful actions that make a difference

  • Climate science
  • How to communicate about the climate crisis so people will listen
  • Envisioning the future: what does a sustainable, regenerative world look like?
  • Climate justice, highlights of the Green New Deal, and how to create a just transition
  • Activist tactics, advocacy, and political engagement
  • How to build resilience for sustained engagement
