Eco Club Mentorship 2021-2022

Overview

Join Youth4Climate (Y4C) as a volunteer mentor in the 2021-22 school year to inspire high school students. We’re looking for committed college and high school students interested in bolstering your leadership experience and connecting with other college students! You’ll join a team and spend about 4-5 hours per month (as outlined below) and can be remote or in San Diego. Training will be provided. If you’re looking for community, opportunities for climate justice activism, fun, and empowerment, join us!

What you’ll be doing

  • Guiding eco club leaders in building their club and impact
  • Supporting your club members throughout the term  
  • Mentoring students to build their passions through their eco club
  • Helping to spark discussions and organize leadership trainings for eco clubs

Essential Skills

  • Enthusiasm and strong social skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for climate justice, and mentoring youth!

What you will gain

  • Leadership and organizing experience that you can put on your resumé.
  • Community service hours.
  • An incredible community of college students working with an amazing group of high schoolers.
  • Contributing to a just, liveable future!

Volunteering Details

  • Fill out the Eco Club Coalition Mentor Interest Form by September 6th to receive more information about the info sessions and orientation. Megan, the Youth4Climate Intern, will reach out to set up a meeting.
  • College mentors will begin in early September
  • Information Sessions on September 7th and 8th (time TBA)
  • Mandatory Orientation for selected mentors on September 11th
  • First Eco Club Coalition call on September 18th
  • Monthly commitment: 4 – 5 hours (as shown below)

Summer Camp Mentorship 2021

College mentors will spend 3.5-6.5 hours per week (as outlined below) and can be remote or in San Diego. Training will be provided. If you’re looking for community, opportunities for climate justice activism, fun, and empowerment, join us!

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading breakout rooms to orient campers and spark discussion on climate justice topics.
  • Guiding campers through the camp, helping them to build friendships and find their climate passions.
  • Supporting campers

Essential Skills

  • Enthusiasm and strong social skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Passion for climate justice!
